Summer Training 2016

July 22nd, 2016

This summer, Peer Power conducted an intensive training for its returning and new Success Coaches at the University of Memphis. The Success Coaches focused on concepts covered on the ACT using Khan Academy and participated in a 3-day ACT training seminar hosted by Mastery Prep. There were daily sessions that covered relevant strategies from Doug Lemov’s Teach Like a Champion curriculum and innovative ideas for student engagement utilized by Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, GA. The Success Coaches also read and discussed Other People’s Children by Lisa Delpit to delve into the challenges that they will face with their teachers in the classroom.

The training was concluded by a Success Coach Summer Training graduation ceremony that highlighted the Coaches’ hard work over the summer, celebrated the promotion of several Success Coaches as Team Leaders, and recognized the transition of eight Success Coaches as new, full-time teachers in Memphis and across the country!
